Dating with Shadow Search

Dateworthy is a dating app for adults built around one thing the big apps don’t have: you can search on what profiles don’t show, and nobody ever finds out what you searched.

Dateworthy isn’t released yet. It is coming to TestFlight first and then the App Store. There is no sign-up form here and no waiting list to join — this site exists so the policies, the safety rules and the way to reach a human are public before anyone downloads anything.

What Shadow Search is

You answer a handful of private questions about yourself. Those answers never appear on your profile and are never shown to another user. Other people can filter on them, the filtering happens on our servers, and the result is only ever who shows up — never an answer.

The person being filtered gets no signal at all, and the searcher’s filters stay just as private. You can change or delete your answers at any time. The more personal questions are off by default, require you to opt in, and are encrypted at rest.

Who it’s for

Adults, 18 and over, who are done paying to find out that somebody likes them. Say whether you’re here for something casual or something serious, and match with people who said the same. Everyone agrees to the ground rules and an eligibility attestation before they can build a profile — see the Terms of Use for both, word for word.

The honest pitch

Free, and who likes you is always free

Seeing who liked you is the part other apps charge for. On Dateworthy it’s free and it stays free. We will never put who-likes-you behind a paywall.

No looks score

We don’t rate how attractive you are and we don’t sort people by looks. There is no hidden desirability ranking deciding who you get to see.

You can’t pay to be seen

Nobody can buy their way to the top of your feed, and you can’t buy your way to the top of theirs. Money doesn’t move you up the line.

How matching actually works

You surface to people based on your stated preferences, how close you are, and whether you’re active. People who fit what you both said you want rank higher. That’s it. No black box.

Five conversations at a time

You can have five conversations going at once, and so can everyone else. That’s the cap, so nobody gets strung along and nobody’s a backup plan. A conversation stops counting once it’s been quiet for three days, or when you close it, and the slot opens back up. If someone you match with is full, you’ll see it in the thread and can try again in a day or so.

Verification before anyone can message you

Browsing and liking are open, but a person has to pass selfie verification before they can send a message. Photos are screened before they’re stored, and a verified profile carries a check.

Report and block from anywhere

Any user can block or report any other user, from their profile or from inside a chat, without giving a reason. Reports go to a review queue that a person works through. How reporting and blocking work ›

Your location, and Passport while you travel

Location is required — it’s how we show you people near you — but only “While Using the App.” We never ask for background location, and your exact position is never shown to anyone: other people see a rounded label like “3 mi away.” When your phone is genuinely 50 or more miles from home, Dateworthy browses from where you actually are, free, for as long as you’re there.

So how do we make money?

Later on, by selling convenience and extras, never visibility. Things like a passport to browse another city before you travel, or extra Worthys. Never who-likes-you, never a way to pay to be seen, never your private data. Dateworthy is free today, and if we ever add a paid feature the price and the terms are shown before you buy anything.
